Congrats to our Alumni and Scholars!!

Once again MAYF is proud to extend academic scholarships to graduating seniors who have participated in our youth football and cheering program. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are pleased to announce the 2009 recipient of the MAYF Cheering scholarship is: ALLYSEN HICKS
Her continued contributions to our youth program after they have moved on will not be forgotten and will be missed as she continues to pursue her education!
Congratulations and the best of luck!

This year we are also very proud to have two of our cheerleaders be recognized nationally for their outstanding achievements in academics, athletics and extra curricular activities. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are pleased to acknowledge: Jennifer Boxell and Andrea Boxell for their accomplishment and wish them continued success!

Keep up the fantastic work girls!

Letter from the Chairman

It’s hard to believe we are just days away from another AYF football season, set to start on August 3rd. As we begin to prepare for the season, I would like to congratulate the Marlboro Baseball All Stars on their success at all levels.

As many of you have already heard, there have been big changes for the coming season, primarily on the football side. This year, Marlboro and 6 other organizations from Central Mass are switching to the All American format. What is All American? All American is a division of youth football that divides teams into grades that is age protected. This allows all children to play football and also allows them to compete against children their own age. I am personally excited about this format because it no longer allows towns to create teams mostly consisting of “over lighters”, a definite benefit that many towns have taken advantage of the past years.

For the coming season, our teams (as well as the other 6 CM teams participating in the AA format) will be separated in the following manner

Kindergarten/1st grade – Head Coach Paul Doucette

Grade 2/3 – Head Coach Kevin Lynch

4th Grade – Head Coach Paul Dauderis

5th Grade –Head Coach Bill Soto

6th Grade –Head Coach Kevin Murphy

7th Grade –Head Coach Greg Short

Unfortunately, we will not be able to field an 8th grade team due to the extremely low registration numbers.

On the cheerleading side, there are no major changes. All CM teams will be competing against each other come competition season. The following are our cheerleading squads(as of today)

Tiny Mites – Head Coach Elita Gould

Tiny Mite games will be held on Saturdays and these cheerleaders will perform in Exhibition at Fun Comp in Shrewsbury

Mitey Mite – We are still looking for coaches, if you are interested please contact Laurie Chalmers or Larissa LeClerc (their info is available on the AYF website)

Mitey Mites will perform in exhibition at Fun Comp as well as the Central Mass Competition

This year the Wildcats will again have 3 teams that will compete in Competition, these teams are as follows

Division 10/under – Head Coach Melissa Eng – Pascual

Division 11/under – Head Coach Tracy Jakubiak

Division 12/under – Head Coach Heather Gibson

If anyone has any questions about the upcoming season, feel free to reach out to myself or any Board Trustee.  See you all on Monday!

Wishing you all a Great Season,

Chris Arnold

Marlborough AYF Chairman

Registrations for participation in football and cheering are still being accepted, but space is limited and some squads may be full soon. The cost for the full season is $120.00 and uniform basics are provided for each participant.

Final original report card from school is required for participation this season - keep it in a safe place until August 3rd.  You'll also need a birth certificate and doctor's consent form, or physical result dated in 2009.

One significant change to this season's rules - football teams will be organized according to what grade the player will be going into in September - no weight restrictions will apply! Cheering squads will be grouped similarly to last season.
